When returning to Minsk, Leon planned a wonderful event for his relatives. (Leon’s parents were born in Subota, a small village near Imenin.) The event consisted of a luncheon at the Minsk Theological Seminary and Gospel Light Church Complex for relatives who traveled from Brest, Drogichin, Imenin and Minsk.
Pavel Obravets, who pastors the Gospel Light Church adjacent to the Minsk Theological Seminary, and Leonid Mikhovich, the directory of the seminary, shared the Gospel clearly and concisely during the luncheon. Leon gave his testimony of salvation, emphasizing the need of repentance of sin before the Lord Jesus Christ.
A warm friendly atmosphere prevailed during the luncheon. When departing, each relative selected some spiritual literature that was freely offered, especially “Our Daily Bread,” a small monthly Biblical pamphlet that is translated from the English language and printed in Minsk, Belarus.
Although retired, Leon seeks to promote the overseas ministries of SMS. At ninety years of age, Leon continues to promote ministries in Belarus, especially the ESL (English as a Second Language) program in Minsk and in Gomel, the two largest cities in Belarus. Pray that God will strengthen Leon and Ann Chechowich, as they seek to be worthy witnesses of the grace of God. And pray for the relatives of Leon, that they will search the Scriptures and see that Jesus Christ truly is the Savior who died on the cross especially for each one of them.
