Pray daily for pastors in the Slavic countries (as well as your own) that they will have wisdom and power from God to preach the Word effectually and to care for all of the saints. Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit will accompany the preaching of God’s Word throughout all lands. Ask God to stir up Christians to use their God-given freedom to the fullest advantage in making known everywhere the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). |
Slavic Missionary Service thanks God for dedicated supporters who assist ministries that are reaching souls for Jesus Christ. In times of difficulty and discouragement, only God can truly bring peace to hearts and minds that trust in Him.
During this unusual time of quarantine, opportunities to minister to the needy in Lvov have been numerous. Therefore, Valetin Romaniuk, a longtime helper of Slavic Missionary Service and a volunteer staff continue to purchase products for the poor and disadvantaged. Now, on a number of occasions, they have been able to distribute these “care” packages at the headquarters of the Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary (UBTS).
Those individuals or families that are clearly having difficulties first enter a tent on the territory of UBTS and listen to a Gospel message from the Word of God. “Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). Students from the seminary participate in this vital opportunity to show Christian compassion in action. They also answer any questions that may be asked.
After having some coffee or tea and some light refreshments, the individuals then enter the line to receive a generous gift of groceries from the Christian community. Many are extremely grateful that someone cares for them! The workers remind them that they are sharing gifts, because God gave them the greatest gift ever given, His Son Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the sins of mankind.
Pray that those individuals that receive this physical nourishment will also receive spiritual sustenance that can only be found in God. Pray that this ministry will help many to seek the Lord Jesus Christ during this difficult time. Only He can provide salvation, peace and genuine rest. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
