Most churches themselves raise funds and conducted the programs without any assistance from foreign teams. (Teams from other countries that were scheduled to assist had to cancel because of closed borders caused by the pandemic.) The length of camps was also shortened, and some churches chose only to do “day” camps this year.
The lack of assistance from foreign believers was a blessing in disguise. Many churches recognized their need to train more members in their congregations to accomplish such tasks as serving in a summer camp in the future. Some who were complacent or indifferent also were challenged through the conviction of the Holy Spirit to get more involved with various ministries in their own churches.
And through the difficulties and downsizing, God was honored and glorified. Some children and youth came forward in services to give their hearts and lives to Jesus. Some repented of their sins and received Christ as their Savior. Most of all, all were happy that the pandemic did not hinder them from organizing an event that would magnify the name of Jesus Christ.
Praise the Lord for these glimpses of growth that show that God continues to build His church. Pray that volunteer workers will continue the process of discipleship in those individuals who have repented. Also, pray that those individuals who are interested in spiritual matters will accept invitations to attend Sunday school classes, church services and home Bible studies.

God’s strategy for world evangelism calls for two equally important elements: Co-missionaries and Go-missionaries, the senders and the sent, the supporters and the workers. A Christian church without missionary enthusiasm is a contradiction. God depends upon the faithful testimony of His people for the evangelization of the world. The Savior expects those who have tasted the sweetness of salvation to spread the news far and wide. He has commissioned His children to share His Word to the lost in every country. |
